How We Started

Guidry’s Story

Guidry’s Guardian Foundation is named after Founder, Alanna Rizzo’s dog, Guidry. Until Alanna adopted Guidry, she didn’t know what she was missing.

Guidry was adopted from the Humane Society of Boulder Valley, in Boulder, CO, in February of 2009. She had never experienced this deep type of love for another being. She was specifically looking for a Border Collie mix and Guidry captured her heart. When she first saw him in his kennel, he was covered in his own waste, yet he had the sweetest face and personality and she knew he needed to be a part of her family.

Guidry brought so much meaning and purpose to Alanna’s life. Through adoption, Alanna began learning of the grave need of fosters and adopters across the nation. She learned of the neglect and abuse dogs on the streets and in shelters endure. She learned of the overwhelming need for funding for overcrowded shelters and rescue organizations. Guidry is the reason that so many dogs have been saved and why Guidry’s Guardian Foundation was born.
